Decentralized Science Workgroup

The workgroup is building relationships with patient advocacy groups, research institutions, universities and others to build out the decentralized science (DeSci) ecosystem. The DAO will mint IP-NFT (ERC-721) Tokens for approved research projects or SubDAO’s. Researchers and other project members or SubDAO’s can apply for funding to the DAO treasury. IP-NFT fractionalization will be implemented, hence Investors and SubDAO members will be able to have fractional ownership of the IP-NFT based on their contributions to project funding requests. On later phases an option for selling and auctioning the fraction of IP can be implemented. NDF users pledging to Decentralized Science (DeSci) Group will be offered fractional ownership of one or more research project’s IP.

Leverage digital ledger technology and decentralized networks to revolutionize scientific research and collaboration.

In Decentralized Science, which aims to democratize and decentralize the scientific process, these technologies can revolutionize how research is conducted, validated, and disseminated. Other use cases include:

Distributed Autonomous Organizations (DAOs): DAOs can be used to fund and govern scientific research projects. Researchers can propose projects to the DAO, and if approved, funding can be allocated automatically through smart contracts. DAOs enable transparent decision-making and can involve a diverse range of stakeholders in the research process, including scientists, funders, and the general public.

Digital Ledger Technology (Blockchain): Blockchain technology can be employed to create transparent and immutable records of scientific data, publications, and peer reviews. Researchers can timestamp and store their data on the blockchain, ensuring its integrity and preventing tampering or data manipulation. Blockchain-based platforms can also facilitate the peer review process by providing a decentralized and secure environment for reviewers to assess the quality of research.

Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI algorithms can analyze large datasets and identify patterns, correlations, and insights that may not be apparent to human researchers. AI can accelerate the pace of scientific discovery by automating repetitive tasks such as data analysis, literature reviews, and hypothesis generation. Additionally, AI-powered recommendation systems can help researchers discover relevant papers, collaborators, and funding opportunities more efficiently.

Decentralized Publication Platforms: Traditional scientific publishing is often centralized and controlled by a few publishers, leading to issues such as high subscription costs and publication bias. Decentralized publication platforms built on blockchain technology can empower researchers to publish their work openly and transparently. These platforms can use smart contracts to ensure fair and transparent peer review and enable researchers to retain ownership of their intellectual property.

Incentive Mechanisms and Token Economies: Token economies can be used to incentivize and reward contributions to the scientific community. Researchers can earn tokens for publishing papers, peer reviewing manuscripts, sharing data, and collaborating with others. These tokens can be used to access research articles, fund future projects, or even stake a claim in DAOs that support scientific research.
By leveraging distributed autonomous organizations, digital ledger technology, and artificial intelligence, Decentralized Science can foster collaboration, transparency, and innovation in the scientific community, ultimately advancing our collective understanding of the world.

The workgroup will deliver a collaborative Web 3/Industry 4.0 network to connect global research institutions as separate nodes and contributing labs.

This working group can help reduce costs and friction experienced by early clinical researchers while they secure funding and attract new investors.

We will demonstrate and document the values of using Web 3 and Industry 4.0 technologies in a collaborative global ecosystem of scientists, research institutions, patient advocacy groups, and patients.
